The Township of Upper is seeking experienced and certified Part-Time Emergency Medical Technicians. We are looking for qualified individuals who are dependable and responsible to join our team. Candidates must have a valid drivers license, NJ / National EMT certification, and BLS healthcare provider CPR certification. Two years 9-1-1 experience preferred but not required.

PER-DIEM / PART-TIME CROSSING GUARD

The Township of Upper is seeking reliable and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Crossing Guards.

Position Type: Per-Diem / Part-Time
Schedule: Morning and afternoon shifts on school days (hours may vary)

Responsibilities:

Safely assist students and pedestrians in crossing roadways
Monitor traffic and ensure a safe environment near schools
Follow established safety procedures and local regulations
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and drivers

Minimum Qualifications (State of New Jersey Requirements):

Must be a resident of New Jersey
Must be in good physical health and able to perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
Must be of good moral character
Cannot have any criminal convictions involving moral turpitude
Must successfully pass a background check
Must complete required training, including:
Minimum 2 hours of classroom instruction
Minimum 20 hours of supervised field training

PART-TIME RECREATION LEADER

We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Part-Time Recreation Leaders. Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, you will lead fun, engaging, and safe recreational activities for participants of all ages, with a focus on youth programs, after-school activities, sports, games, and community events. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with people, has energy and creativity, and wants flexible hours in the afternoons and weekends.

Schedule:

Primarily afternoons (typically 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM or similar shifts)
Weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday shifts, mornings and/or afternoons)
Shift schedules are determined by program needs and may vary seasonally; approximately 15–25 hours per week depending on programs and season.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities including games, sports, arts & crafts, group activities, and special events
Supervise and ensure the safety of participants at all times
Set up and clean up activity areas and equipment
Interact positively with participants, parents, and community members
Assist with program registration, attendance tracking, and basic record-keeping
Promote a fun, inclusive, and welcoming environment
Enforce program rules and handle minor behavioral situations with guidance from supervisors

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age
Upper Township residency preferred but not required
High school diploma or equivalent
College coursework in recreation, education, or related field preferred
Experience working with children, managing youth programs, sports, and other related activities is preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to lead activities with enthusiasm and creativity
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and remain active/on feet for the duration of the shift
Must pass a criminal history background check and fingerprinting in accordance with State law and Township policy
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within first month)
Completion of JIF-approved ‘Protecting Children from Abuse’ training within 30 days of hire

Compensation:

$20 Per Hour – Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Opportunity for additional hours during school breaks, holidays, or special events
