FEMA have released the Preliminary FIRMS on June 30, 2014 and is now accepting requests for appeals of the line from both Municipalities and property owners. This release of the FIRMS has not changed the flood zones from the previous release of the Preliminary FIRMS. You can review the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) which is the basis for the Preliminary FIRMS. The existing FIRMS will remain in effect for flood insurance purposes until the new maps are approved, tentatively in Spring 2015. The Preliminary FIRMS will be used for new construction or substantial improvements.

Upper Township Contracts with CodeRED to Provide Emergency Notification Services to Community
Following an extensive and thorough evaluation and review of alerting systems, the Upper Township has implemented the CodeRED system, a high-speed emergency notification service provided by Ormond Beach, FL-based Emergency Communications Network.
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the Township’s emergency planning and communications outreach to both citizens and City personnel by using the system capabilities to send telephone calls, text messages, emails and social media in an effort to effectively inform residents to protect life and property. CodeRED, among other notification systems available, was selected for its unrivaled reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s global use.
The Township has been provided an initial database of residential and business telephone numbers, however all residents living within Upper Township limits are encouraged to visit http://www.uppertownship.com/oem/codered and click on the CodeRED logo to enroll additional contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email addresses.
Public safety officials across the United States have credited CodeRED notifications for many successful events including locating missing children, apprehending wanted criminals and issuing timely evacuations.
The Township of Upper, as a result of an order by the Cape May County Tax Board, has contracted with Vital Communications, Inc. of Trenton, New Jersey to perform a complete revaluation of all real property with the Township of Upper.
